Hexagonal Architecture in Practice

How domain-driven design and ports & adapters pattern shaped our infrastructure.

Why Hexagonal Architecture?

When building infrastructure that needs to evolve over years, the wrong architectural decisions can cripple your ability to adapt. We chose hexagonal architecture for its flexibility.

Core Principles

The hexagonal architecture (also called ports and adapters) separates your business logic from external concerns like databases, APIs, and UI.

Ports

Ports are interfaces that define how the outside world interacts with your application. They're technology-agnostic.

Adapters

Adapters implement ports for specific technologies. Want to switch from PostgreSQL to DynamoDB? Write a new adapter. Your business logic doesn't change.
